How to backup content on iPod
There are lots of music, video, photo on your iPod. But you may need to backup the content on your ipod.

Backup files from iPod to Mac
Step1: Run iPodTransfer, connect iPod/iPhone to your Mac via USB cable. After done, the iPod/iPhone icon with its library and playlists appear in the Device list. You can see that iPod Transfer finds all the music and videos on your iPod.
Step2: Open the iPod's library/playlist that you want to export files from it, and choose the export files.
Step3: Click the iPod to Mac button, and you can also right-click context menu->iPod to Mac . Then select a directory to export your files into.
Step4: Click Choose. You can see the export progress bar.
Step5: When the export progress finish, you can can find the files by located directory.
Tips: You also can export files to your iPod/iPhone by dragging files to the destination.
